Avoid Bakeries and Pastry Shops on Christmas Eve in Alsace

by Renee
(Kembs, Alsace)

For whatever reason I decided to go pick up something sweet and some bread at the local Boulangerie and Patisserie on Christmas Eve.

Very bad idea.

There was a line out the door at every Boulangerie and Patisserie in town!

In fact, most every shop that was open was full of people which I expected, but a line out the door at the local bakery and pastry shop?

That was a new experience for me!

Has anyone else had this happen to them or is it just my village?

SameThing in My Village

Hi Renee,

You're a brave woman going shopping on Christmas Eve in Alsace!

In the touristy areas they're more prepared for the crowds and they have more room for everyone, but in my village it's too full.

I tried it once. I'll never do that again, although I shouldn't say that... You never know ; )

Thanks for the tip!
