My 2x great grandfather is from Alsace Lorraine. Born about 1853. Moved to the US around 1871. I am trying to find more information about what town he is actually from. I also want to know more about his parents William and Anna.

I strongly recommend that you give as much info as you can here in case someone is looking for something that you have.

They may have info for you as well.

The more you leave here, the better for your research.

The info that you have left is very limited.

Yes, the full name is great and really necessary. But in your case, it's not an uncommon name so it may or may not be helpful if someone has info about this name.

It might not be the same person.

What village or town is super important. If you can narrow it down more than just the region, Alsace, that is the best thing you can do.

The years are always good to know and do speed things up, but they are less important for doing research here in Alsace.
