Surnames

by Cris Herbert

I located an 1857 Church Marriage Record in NYC. The names are in Latin (Petrus) and when I googled the German sounding villages they translated to French. How do I search online for them - in which language!?
Thank you

Not sure I understand your question
by: Suzele

Hi Cris,

Not sure I understand your question.
You found some names in Latin.

You looked up the village names which sounded German and they translated to French?

That's the part I'm not sure I understand.

What are the village names?

Also if you don't mind include the names of the relatives, where, when and any other info that may be useful.

You'd be surprised how many people are here looking for info about their families and may have some info for you if your family is connected to Alsace.

Happy hunting,
Suzele
