Butten is a village about an hour away from Strasbourg. It's not part of Strasbourg to my knowledge.

Part of your family is clearly from Alsace. Maybe from Strasbourg too.

France...in 1914, Alsace wasn't part of France. Now it is.

You can find birthd and death records online. Everything's in French and maybe German. It depends on when.
