Pelissier family

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for the birth record for Isidore Lancelin Pelissier. According to US Census records he was born in Alsace-Lorraine in 1836 or 1838.

Any more info?

Hi Millie,

Thanks for asking about your Alsace ancestor (or maybe you're not sure which region your French ancestor comes from). But with very little other information (no village or town names) it's not so easy to find more info.

I do hope you find what you're looking for of course.

In your case, your French relative is either Alsatian or Lorraine. Not both.

Unless he moved from one region to the other.

Alsace Lorraine was a merged region only in a specific period of time (and not in the early 1800s).

So the good news (or at least interesting) is that your ancestor was born in France.

I'm sure you'd like more info. Like his birth certificate, parents names, and which village or town he was born in.

The most important information for your French genealogy research is the town or village name.

Without it, genealogy research into your family history is challenging.

I'd love to hear about what you'd like to find regarding your Alsace relatives (or possibly Lorraine relatives).

If finding official documents was impossible (or a dead end), what would you like to know about your ancestors?

I study history, the cultural traditions, and beliefs of the Alsace region, so I'm curious to know what you'd like to learn about here on my site.

Sincerely,
Suzele
