Hi Suzele,

On my father's side, I'm looking for Norbert Paul Wagner's father and trying to find out which village in Alsace he lived in.

Or which village he was born in or married in or died in or anything related to him.

So basically where did Norbert Paul Wagners father come from?

Looking for your Alsace ancestor's village

Hi Nancy,

Well, you haven't really given me much info to go on here.

And finding the village of your ancestor in the entire region of Alsace (or any region) isn't super easy without any clues.

There are 1000s of villages here in Alsace - and it's a really small region.

I would have to lookin every village record in Alsace and maybe I'd find it.

But I have another problem now...

Because I don't have a year or group of years (and I promise you that there will be lots of WAGNERs in many different villages.

I won't know if this Norbert or Paul is yours - even if I find some good potential birth, marriage or death registries.

There are lots of WAGNERs in Alsace, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

It's a super common name.

I do hope someone comes across this post and has something to offer you.

But they will also have the problem that they're not sure if your Norbert Paul Wagner is the same one as theirs.

It may sound odd to hear that, but you wouldn't believe how many people name their kids the same thing.

Certain names were very popular for 10ish years.

So please come back and give us some more info.

It might help you.
