My Great Great Grandfather in Alsace and Family history

Hi everyone,

Our German side of the family is a complete mystery! Considering it’s my great great grandfather and we have family still alive on his side no one knows any leads in tracking his past down!

His surname is Weber which I’m led to believe is a very common German surname?! He was originally born in Berlin in 1863 but straight away moved to Alsace and spoke fluent French. Will there be any census records available to track him down? On the latest census here in the U.K. he tends to change his names around which is proving difficult!
