My name is Ralph Bischak and I live in Pennsylvania, USA.

My Ancestor, Peter Jolly, was born in "Belse" in the Alsace region of France in 1735.

My question is: does anyone know of this village and if so, where is it located?

Hi Ralph,

I haven't come across this name in my research and study. It reminds me of the way some village names are pronounced in Alsatian dialect.

But unfortunately not a specific name.

And in any case Alsatian is more of a spoken language than a written one, so there is no formal spelling.

It could be a small community that isn't even a village (too small), but again, I haven't heard of it.
