Marendts from Lambach Alsace

by Linda
(South Pasadena, FL)

Seeking information on Francis Xavier Marendt and Anna Maria (Lander) Marendt who came to America around 1841. They spoke German, were Catholic and settled in Indiana.

All their children were born in Lambach, Alsace. My grandmother was the granddaughter of their son, Peter.

Hi Linda,

You have all that you need to continue your research, so congratulations!

The name of the village or town is the most important info to have (in addition to the names of your ancestors).

So you should be able to do the research and find more documents on your family tree.

Just have to do it...and read the horribly scribbled writing of these documents in French (usually).

Good luck with it

I don't know how old this post is but my Grandfather is Theodore Marendt born in 12/17/02 in Evansville, Indiana.

I am on ancestry with a partial family tree. His parents were Peter and Elizabeth but, I believe we are descendants of Father Xavier Marendt who founded a Catholic Church.

I do have a hand-typed family tree which is very thorough and starts somewhere in the 1600's, if I'm not mistaken. If you find any of this relevant and want to chat. I am Amanda Yokom
