The truth

Germany will not likely let you become a citizen because you have distant German ancestry.

I think it's your parents and maybe grandparents.

In France I think it's the same or less.

But if you want to move to France or Germany, you can do that without becoming a citizen.

You just need a healthy source of income that you can prove you have easy access to.

And of course the usual no criminal record. Things like that.

But the income and big savings account or retirement account is super important.

And there are other details, I'm sure you'll find them with Google.

I know quite a few people who have moved to Alsace with no local ancestry or getting married to a local (like I did). So it's very possible.
