Looking for any records of my Starck family from Haguenau, & earlier, Riedseltz.
Charles/Carl Starck was born in 1885 in Haguenau. His father, Jacques/Jacob was born in 1858 in Haguenau. His father, Francois/Franz Starck was born in 1814 in Riedseltz.

You're pretty lucky to have the names of the villages of your ancestors. You wouldn't believe how many people I chat with that have no record or idea of which part of Alsace their family comes from.

As far as finding their actual houses, that info is very hit or miss.

If they sold it to a completely different family, you may never know.

If they sold it within the family, that's a different story. And you might be able to find it.

That's assuming the house is still standing.

Lots of houses in that area aren't standing anymore after World War 2.

And there are likely houses that are very similar to the ones your family owned still standing. Which is pretty cool too.

It's so nice to have an idea of how your family lived and what it looked like. That's what I do on tours a lot when there's Alsatian ancestry.

Context really helps to feel connected to Alsace as a descendant. Based on my nearly 20 years here doing it.

Wishing you lots of luck on your search,
Suzele
