Alsace not Paris

Hi Sutton,

This site is about Alsace. And so the genealogy section is also about Alsace France.

You'll have to look elsewhere for Paris genealogy questions.

Each region in France has its records in a different place. So in Alsace, you can't get Paris genealogical records.

Paris has a number of different departments, but I imagine Ile de France is a good place to start. If you want, check out a map of the regions or departments of France. You'll see that Paris has a few of them. Make note of them.

Paris is huge so you've got your work cut out for you. Your problem might not be figuring out which village your ancestors are from (unless they're from a banlieu or suburb).

Your problem will be looking through stacks and stacks of virtual paper.
