Strasbourg and Colmar aren't the only towns with Christmas markets and Christmas festivities in Alsace.

In fact there's a lot more going on than what is on my Alsace Christmas Market list here!

Avoiding Christmas Crowds
by: Suzele

If you're looking to avoid crowds (particularly bus loads) of tourists on your Christmas in Alsace vacation, you might want to stay away from certain villages and towns...

But they are beautiful so if you still want to visit these Christmas markets/festivals, you might want to consider visiting:

  • early in the day

  • during the week

  • in November or early December

and if that's not possible, just be prepared for bus loads of tourists and crowds of people (even locals)...

*And another important thing to remember*

Most Christmas markets are officially closed on Christmas day.

But I have been in Colmar on Christmas day and while the town was empty (great photos!) some of the Christmas market vendors were open and there were a few restaurants open as well...

So no promises...but Christmas day could be a great day to check out Colmar or Strasbourg if you hate crowds...
