Birth and Death Record for Reverend Godfrey Rapp or Raub

by Mildred
(Pennsylvania USA)

Godfrey Rapp is mentioned in the historical record of his grandson, Philip Henry Rapp Jr. Philip Jr attempted to recover all goods due from the estate of his grandfather, the Reverend Godfrey Rapp of "Sulz" in Lower Alsace (Bas-Rhin) near Strasbourg.

If I can connect Godfrey's authenticity as a minister to the ministry of Rev. Philip Henry Rapp Sr in Nockamixon Township, Pennsylvania, I can apply to the Daughters of the American Colonists.

I have documentation for the ministry of Rev. Philip Henry Rapp Sr.

Thank you for any help.

Godfrey Rapp
by: Melissa

Hi Mildred,

Pastor Godfrey Rapp is also my ancestor. My brother and I just returned from a trip to Europe.

We visited the church where we believe Godfrey Rapp was the pastor from 1744-1752. Unfortunately the church records for that time period were destroyed by a fire.

However, after meeting with the current pastor and comparing their records that he has with what we have we have concluded that Godfrey was indeed the pastor during the time period I mentioned.

Birth and Death of Rev Godfrey Rapp or Raub
by: Fred

I would like to know the birth and death dates of Godfrey Rapp, whose son was Phillippus Henricus Rapp, who emigrated to the USA in 1750, lived in Nockamixon Twp., Bucks County, PA, USA and his grandson Philip Henry Rapp who bought land in Holland Twp, Hunterdon County, NJ. USA. Also I would like to know the places of his birth and death.

watch for name evolution?
by: Jen

Stumbled on your post as I was looking for some other names. My husband has a few ancestors with a variation of that last name. As I've researched, keep in mind (if you didn't already know) that this surname was often mis-recorded as RUP/RUPP/RUPIN/RUBB/RUEB as well as RAUB - all of which occasionally were later changed to Rupp or Rapp or Rape in the US...

My husband's family line for this name was in the 1700s in Ohnenheim & Ribeauvile a bit north from yours~
Happy hunting!

Godfrey Rapp’s Germany.
by: Jacqueline Carol Rapp Billy

I am an ancestor of Phillipus Henricus Rapp who is buried outside of the burial grounds of the church he pastored in Nockamixon Twp., because it was assumed that he committed suicide. No evidence confirmed this. I have a picture of the tomb in the woods with a small chain fence around it. His wife was pregnant with a child when he died, George Rapp, so he was not included in Rev Phillipus Henrinricus’ Rapp’s will. I have a copy of the will.

I was not able to find out anything about his father, Reverend Godfrey Rapp who lived in Germany in Alsace. I would also like to know more about Godfrey, his dates of birth and death, wife’s name, and any names of other children he had, plus the name of his parents. Please
