Bieber family emigrated to us/Canada circa 1820s

Peter Bieber and wife Margret along with 4 adult children (Mary, Peter, Philip, nicholaus) left bas-rhin eventually settled in Toronto Canada and became farmers.

What was happening at the time politically or economically etc that would prompt the emigration?

Bieber eventually became Beaver at some point along the way

Not surprised that the name became Beaver from Bieber. That's what it meant in German ;)

Kind of a shame though I always liked the name Bieber.

And no I'm not a teenage girl ;)

Just like the name!

Probably left for land grants or low priced farmland.

There are a number of possible reasons they may have left.

It can also depend on where they were in Alsace before they left.
