Balthazar Muttart (or Moutarde or Moutart or Motard)

by Stephanie
(California)

I am hunting down my Alsatian family that migrated to Bellechasse, Quebec and then moved to Prince Edward Island (at that time Isle of St. John).

Balthazar was born about 1738 in Bas-Rhin, Alsace and died unexpectedly in 1784 - the boat that he was on capsized.

If anyone has tips or tricks to locate him in Alsace, it is most appreciated.

My best guess is Muttart is his last name for an Alsatian.

The other names are too French. It could be him but my bet is Muttart or something similar.

You need his birth village.

Your best bet for finding it is finding other relatives of his that have done some research or just happen to know from family history.

Because all records are organized by village or town here.

Wishing you lots of luck,
Suzele
