Alsace Wineries

What Are Your Favorites?

So many Alsace wineries...

And in such a small wine growing region...how much more convenient can it get?!?

There are over 100 wine producing villages in Alsace...

And each village generally has more than one wine producer so there's a lot of wineries you could visit here in Alsace!

If you don't know much about Alsace wine, any winery will do...as long as you can communicate with the person serving you...

If you're a little nervous about walking into a wine tasting room in Alsace for the first time, you'll find my Alsace Wine Tasting Etiquette Guide here...

If you're familiar with Alsace wine, you probably have a short list of favorite producers to visit already...

But there are many small producers in Alsace whose wines don't make it very far outside of Alsace...

Mainly because they produce very small quantities and they sell out fast!

There are two different styles of wineries in Alsace...

One is the traditional tasting house where the owner or a member of the owner's family is usually there...you look at the wine list...you choose which wines you want to taste...you taste some wine...you ask some questions...you buy some wine.

They're usually small producers with really great wine! They are less likely to speak English, but it depends...

The other style is more organized...you pay a tasting fee...you taste a set series of wines or choose from a variety of set tasting menus...you can buy some wine if you want...the tasting room is usually conveniently located on a main road with a parking area and it's usually large enough for a big group of people...like a tour bus...

These Alsace wineries are more well known and need to be able to accommodate more people...their staff are very likely to speak English...and they are used to all sorts of people.

Ok...enough about Alsace wine in general...

Here's where I'll be posting my Alsace wine tasting experiences...specifically which Alsace wineries I've visited and what you'll need to know about them before you get there...

And you are MORE THAN WELCOME to share your own wine tasting experiences in Alsace too!

In Alsace there are so many opportunities to taste good wine...even great wine...

But a great wine tasting (at least for me) is about more than just ...
