Tour Guides and Accommodations in Alsace

by Jean
(Singapore)

Hi!! I also love Alsace! (Though I've not been there.. yet!!) :)

I am visiting Europe from Singapore in April or May and intending to end my holiday in Paris then from there, visit a few places.

One of them is Alsace. I want to visit the villages, especially Colmar, Eguisheim and Riquewihr.

Do you know of any good tour guides that can pick us up from our Paris hotel and bring us to Alsace for a 2 or 3 days tour and drop off at our hotel in Paris. I have been searching for tour guides but can't find any good ones.

And also, are you able to recommend accommodations? I love charming old century houses and rooms. Something like these this one here...

A lovely gite in Riquewihr

Hope to hear from you soon :)
Thanks!

Jean

Tour Guides and Accommodation in Alsace
by: Suzele

Hi Jean,

Sorry but I don't know of any tour guides that are available to drive you from Paris to your hotel, BUT...

You can take the TGV from Paris to Strasbourg. It's a few hours. FASTER than driving!!

From Strasbourg, you have a choice of taking the train to Colmar and then driving from there OR renting a car and driving down the wine road from Strasbourg to your hotel or gite.

There are very few English tour guides in Alsace. I'm one of the few and I'm rarely available for 2 or 3 days at short notice.

A day or an afternoon maybe, but I rarely have three days where I have nothing to do.

BUT the villages you want to visit are very well known and not difficult to find.

Usually people book me for the more hard to find villages or historic sites or that involve only speaking in French.

So I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless!! : )

Regarding accommodation in Alsace, I live here so I don't actually use any of the hotels, gites, or vacation rental apartments because nothing is more than one and a half hours away from my house (one of the nice things about visiting Alsace...it's small!).

I check out different hotels and gites from time to time to see if they look as nice as their websites and post it here on GetAlsaced.com.

If you google "gite" plus the name of the village you would like to stay in, you'll get more choice than you know what to do with!

Most of the gite owners have their websites in at least French, German and English.

Both of these gites look absolutely wonderful and if they are only half as lovely as they appear to be, you'll probably be very happy! : )

And please let me know how it went!

Hope it helps,
Suzele
