by Lisa
(Brussels)

Hi,

I am looking for a scenic 1 day horseback riding in Alsace hoping to go through the vineyards and interesting things.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Lisa

Horseback Riding in Alsace
by: Suzele

Hi Lisa,

To my knowledge, I haven't seen any horseback riding excursions on the wine road in Alsace...

I haven't even seen any advertised.

It doesn't mean that they aren't there. Check with the tourist office when you get to Alsace.

I've seen plenty of horse farms in Alsace, but usually they are either in the Vosges or on the plains closer to the Rhine.

This place here rents out horses and ponies by the hour, half day, day, etc...

But I don't think they speak much English...

German or French only which is typical in Alsace (in non touristy areas).

And this place is in the Vosges mountains near a small village called Belmont. It's in the area of Barr and Schirmeck.

It would be a long horse ride back to the wine road I think, but it may fulfill your desire to go horseback riding.

And the Vosges are just as beautiful as the wine road...except they only produce "Eaux de Vie" in the mountains...

Also known as "brandy" or "schnapps"

Have a great vacation!
Suzele
