Best Airport for Travelling to Alsace

by Andrea
(PA, USA)

Would you fly into Zurich or Frankfurt?

Which towns would you use as your base for sightseeing? (The last time we were there we stayed in Colmar and Strasbourg and then in Baden Baden, Germany before returning to Zurich)

We loved Alsace and want to make the most of our time there!

Thank you so much for your help!!!

Andrea

The Best Airports for Travelling to Alsace
by: Suzele

Hi Andrea,

I think you can get a better deal flying into Frankfurt because it is such a big airport hub, but if you can find something going into Basel/Mulhouse Euro airport for a good price, take it because it is the largest airport in Alsace.

I've found good deals flying through Paris and Frankfurt and both cities have trains at the airport that can take you to Strasbourg, Colmar or Mulhouse where you can rent a car or continue on train to another village.

For more info, my Flying to France section of the website, can tell you much more...

I've personally never found anything for a good price flying into Zurich, but you never know...

From the Euro airport you are only 40 minutes from Colmar and about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Strasbourg.

You'll find everything you need to know about the adorable Alsatian villages here.

And if you'd like some help planning your trip to Alsace, I'm available to create an Alsace travel plan made just for you!

Hope you have a great trip!

Flying into Basel
by: Tom - Riverside CA

We got a very good rate on a British Airways flight from LAX (Los Angeles) to Basel through Heathrow.

It was actually cheaper than flying only to Heathrow or Paris. Go figure???

We did have to change planes in Heathrow, but it was no problem. We rented a car at the Basel airport from Hertz.
