Which area in Alsace has the most beautiful mountain scenery?

by Michael
(Monterey, California)

My fiance and I are going to Alsace in April and we are very fond of mountain scenery.

We would like to spend about 4 to 5 days in a romantic, peaceful and quiet village, which is not crowded. We have heard that Strasbourg is a beautiful city, but we would like to be somewhere smaller and less crowded.

We like Riquewihr and its surrounding mountains, but the information on this website stated it is quite touristy and crowded.

Would Riquewihr be less crowded in April? Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Mountain Scenery in Alsace
by: Suzele

Hi Michael,

How about the Northern Vosges National Reserve in Northern Alsace. UNESCO considers it a world heritage site as well as a beautiful mountainous area.

If you like tiny villages in the mountains, castles, small towns and some fantastic restaurants, you'll probably like this spot.

And it's not very far from Strasbourg, so you could go and visit a big city when you're in the mood.

I've just finished a book on this beautiful (and soon to be discovered) area of Alsace because I just hate for everyone to miss out on it!

Happy Travels!
Suzele
