The Kehres family in Alsace

I am trying to find information on the Caris/ Kehres (Kahres?)family in Alsace. The name was originally spelled Kehres. It was somehow changed upon arrival in the states. The most concrete info I have is for Pierre Kehres. He was born in Rountzenheim in 1791. His father's name was George. Pierre, and family, arrived in the US in 1843. How/where can I find info on George and his family?

I can't say that I have heard of this family name. But as you have a birthplace, there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to find some records unless they are missing.

Of course the records will be a bit odd because they are from the Revolutionary period.

But they will be in badly handwritten French : )

My grandmothers branch of the family had the surname of Kehres. Several of the family came to America in 1852 from Reunzenheim and settled in Ohio. There are still many folks troughout the midwest with the surname of Kehres.
