Researching an ancestor

(Buffalo, new York, United States)

I am researching my fourth great grandfather. When he came to u.s.a.ib 1846 traveling documents show his birth in both France and Germany ( great britian as well). Librarians suggested Alsace Lorraine to me. His name is Dennis bradley and he arrived to NYC on the alert ship at the age of 25..he was born 1821..other documents state deutchsland. Please if you could be of any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Wow...not really an Alsatian or Germanic last name at all. Very unusual.

Unfortunately, your next step is to look through the records of every village and town in Alsace and Lorraine.

Unless you have more information to narrow it down.

But at least he as a very unusual name, so if it wasn't changed or misspelled, you will know it is your relative.

Good luck!
