Mystery surname

My mother's paternal lineage is supposedly Of Alsatian origin, but I can't find evidence. Is the surname "Armacost" Alsatian?

Hi Holly,

I can't say that I've ever heard of that name here in Alsace.

Of course it could be really badly misspelled or something else but as is, don't know it.

And according to a quick google search, there aren't many people with that name in France either.
