My Alsatian Genealogy

by Brian
(United States)

I just discovered your website: getalsaced.com!

It has special interest to me because my paternal ancestors emigrated from Switzerland to Mittelwihr after the 30-years war in the 1600's until they emigrated to Illinois in the 1840's/50's.

My wife and I made our first visit to Alsace (stayed in Mittelwihr) the summer before last. What a wonderful week that was. We met a cousin who shares a common ancestor back from the 1600's who now lives in Riquewihr.

We met a local genealogist who provided a rich tracing of our ancestry through the Alsatian period. We enjoyed the land and the people.

How fortunate you are to live there!
Brian

Genealogy in Alsace
by: Suzele

Hi Brian,

I'm so glad you like the website and had a fantastic time in Alsace!

I would love to know the contact information for the local genealogist that you met (with his or her permission of course).

I do a bit of genealogy research in Alsace too when I have the time.

I don't know what it is about old documents, but I just love searching for them and deciphering them.

Of course, it's a bit like the research I do for my tours. Lots of searching for information!

Glad you had a great time in Alsace!

Enjoy yourself,
Suzele
