Kayaking or Canoeing in Alsace

Hello! My husband and I will be in Alsace (La Vancelle, near Selestat) in July, and would be interested in renting a kayak or canoe for a day on a river.

Any ideas of likely places to look?

Here are a few places you can look for canoeing, kayaking, and rafting in Alsace...

No guarantees that anyone speaks English, but you could get lucky and find someone who speaks some English.



Eaux Vives near Basel

This one is nice because they have built a wild river area where you can go kayaking or even learn to do it or go in the canals where the water is more calm.

It's in Huningue which is a village in southern Alsace near the Swiss border. It's very well known in Alsace amongst those who love kayaking.



Guided Canoeing and Canoe Rentals near Colmar

Here is a local company that does Canoe tours all over Alsace...

You can either hire them to take you on a tour on any number of rivers in Alsace. You'll find them listed on the web page above.

Or you can rent a canoe and go it alone...

Grussenheim is not far from the Rhine river and its canals in the middle of Alsace not far from Colmar.

Canoeing and Biking near Ribeauville

Here is a canoe rental business a little closer to northern Alsace...

They have an office in Ribeauville which may be a little more convenient to some people, but they warn to book weeks in advance during the summer.

The actual location of the canoes is in Illhausern which is near Haut Koenigsbourg, Selestat, and anyone staying in northern Alsace.

There are probably others...
