Great grandfather

I am in Luxembourg and would like to know which village my great grandfather was born in. The genealogy sheet says he was born in February of 1836 in Alsace, Germany. His father was George Zimmerman and his mother was Elizabeth; last name unknown. Is there any way I can find out exactly where he was born so I can go visit?

There are lots of villages in Alsace

Hi Penny,

There are so many villages in Alsace, so it would take a very long time to narrow it down by checking every one of them for your ancestor.

And reading the records is not easy even if you read French and German quite well because of the handwriting style and penmanship in general.

In 1836 Alsace was a part of France by the way : )
