Durrenbach emigration

by Dick
(Florida)

My great-grandfather emigrated to the USA in 1872/73 (not known location - but ended up in NY)

What would have been the general ports of exit and ship lines traveled at that time?

There are many

Hi Dick,

There are many many ports in Northern Europe that could have been used. Around Amsterdam and Calais are two.

The most important piece of info that you'll need if you want to work backwards is to find more relatives in Alsace is a town or village.

Everything is organized according to village of birth, marriage etc.

Happy researching,
Suzele
