I read in the newspaper "L'Alsace" that the Bestheim Cremant Brut Prestige was named one of the top ten sparkling wines at an international competition in November 2009.

Comment I'm not surprised... I absolutely love Crémant d'Alsace (Sparkling Alsace wine)! I guess it's the combination of wines that wine makers in Alsace use to make their sparkling wine... And it varies from wine producer to wine producer... But personally it tastes just as good as Champagne to me...which is saying a lot because I really like Champagne! I'll have to check out Bestheim. They're a wine cooperative located in Bennwihr and Westhalten. Wine cooperatives are a group of wine growers that come together to produce their wine. After the war, a number of the wine producing villages near Colmar were completely destroyed. The wine makers in Bennwihr were just one of them. They weren't able to produce wine on their own individually so they formed a cooperative.
