Ancestors who emigrated from Forbach, France to Canada in 1843

Looking for RC Church Records for Adam Frenzel, b. 1815 and Anna Maria Schetzel (Schaetzel) b. 1820

They were married in approximately 1837.

Two children were born/baptized in Forbach.

Anna Maria, b. approx. 1838
Johannes, b. approx. 1840 -41

How to find your Alsace Lorraine Ancestry Records

Hi Mary,

You really have everything you need to find your Lorraine family genealogy records.

And your family is definitely in Lorraine. Almost in Germany. Really really close!

You don't even need to look in church records most likely. You should be able to find the official French state birth, marriage, or death records (if they stayed there).

Just look in the Forbach books for the births. They should be in French which is good news. Although you never know...but at least in Alsace it's rare to find german records in the mid-1800s.

My area of study is more Alsace, so I don't know all the little tiny details for Lorraine. But the parts of Lorraine that have similar culture and history (like the part your family comes from), I know more about.
